Δεν κάνει κάτι πολύ διαφορετικό από αυτό που κάνει η φαντασία μας όταν στεκόμαστε μπροστά σε μια θέα. Πόσες φορές δεν έχουμε συλλάβει τον εαυτό μας να «προσθέτει» σε αυτό που βλέπουμε;

Τίτλος του, «Around the World in Cut-Outs» (μας θυμίζει κάτι αυτό το «Ο γύρος του κόσμου σε…»;).

So the Paperboyo book is on sale tomorrow! Why buy it? Well it’s full of exclusive photos (including scenes from Scotland, Brazil, South Korea, Portugal & Others). It’s got my favourite stories & facts from all of the places I’ve been as well as some insights into my creative process. There’s also a bunch of behind the scenes images and we’ve dedicated a few pages at the back to the failed photos- the ones that didn’t go to plan! There’s even an interactive element in the book for you to go & take some of your own photos in my style. The main reason though is that it’s a book that will inspire you to you see the world a little differently, to look around a little longer, to ponder, to wonder & most of all to get out there and go explore Pre-Order right now by clicking the link in my bio.

In 2005 the mayor of Mississauga, a City West of Toronto, announced an international design competition for a tower to be known as Absolute World. Two years later, after a public vote, the winner was selected- Yasong Ma, of MAD Architectural Design Studio in Beijing. Pretty quickly the spiralling, curvaceous tower was nicknamed Marilyn Monroe. When apartments in Marilyn Monroe went on sale, they all sold within 24 hours. So naturally the developers quickly announced that a second Marilyn Monroe was going to be built, also spiralling and asymmetric but apparently this was going to be Marilyn after a binge because the second tower was designed to be rounder and plumper so as to accommodate more apartments #ExploreCanada #MyCanadianAffair @ExploreCanada @airtransat #Toronto

I’ve got a few more Toronto images to share with you all. This one, with the CN tower, might just be my new favourite photo. The evening I took this I was on the only boat on the water as the sky danced through a spectrum of colours, each colour change transforming the water around me as well as the skyline ahead. The boat’s skipper & I snapped away on our cameras, only stopping to whisper ‘wow’ as another colour came to the palette. I was in my element, but it was only with a bit of luck and a dash of Canadian friendliness that I’d managed to get here. I was in Toronto in June, when the islands were closed due to floods so the ferries weren’t running & the water taxis were finishing in the middle of the afternoons. I’d walked down to the harbour to see if I could get out on the water for sunsets but was greeted with headshakes. Eventually I managed to turn one of those headshakes into a nod and so I have to give a shoutout to @infinitywatertaxitoronto, you’re a legend. Thanks for showing me one of the very best sunsets I’ve seen in all of my adventures #ExploreCanada #MyCanadianAffair @ExploreCanada @airtransat #Toronto #CNTower

At the top of Niagara falls, in the middle of the river, is the wreck of a barge boat. It came to be there on a summer’s day in 1918 when two men, Gustave Lofberg & Frank Harris, came perilously close to plunging over the falls on it. They were dredging sand one mile upstream when a safety cable snapped and sent them adrift down the Niagara River. Nearby tugs raced to help but had to turn back helplessly as the boat entered ferocious rapids. Just hundreds of metres from the brink of the falls, the two men were preparing themselves for what was coming when suddenly a bump, a skid, a dragging sensation. Then nothing at all. The vessel miraculously grounded itself on a rocky shoal. Various attempts were made to rescue the men, but it wasn’t until sixteen hours later when a breeches buoy was finally set-up to take them off the barge. Everyone involved knew the rapids could have dislodged the boat at any moment, but to this today the boat remains exactly where it stopped almost a century ago. Someday though, when rust finally loosens it’s grip, it seems inevitable that the barge will complete it’s destined tumble over the falls #ExploreCanada #MyCanadianAffair @ExploreCanada @airtransat #niagaraparks

If you saw my Insta Stories from Croatia a couple of weeks ago you’ll know I had a whale of a time -pause for laughter- on an island called @obonjan with @visual.fodder and @morenatravels. Obonjan is a previously un-inhabited island, about forty minutes off the coast of Sibenik, that the team behind Hideout Festival have turned into a summer long festival. Unlike other festivals though the focus here is on wellbeing with daily yoga & meditation classes and a treatment spa nestled within a pine forest. Around the island DJs provide the soundtrack for the long afternoons, whilst those in search of peace can find it in secluded beach coves. When the sky darkens, musicians begin the entertainment in the open air amphitheatre as cocktails flow in the bars. I loved all of the above, but the truly unique thing about Obonjan is that if you venture to the beach at night, you’ll find an impressive looking telescope. A glimpse through it brings you freakishly close to craters on the moon’s surface and if you’re lucky you’ll even catch sight of the Andromeda Galaxy. I’ve never done that at a festival before #Obonjan #Obonjan2017 #IslandLife #Whale #Festival #BlueSky

Beside the Coney Island boardwalk is this un-usual structure, the Parachute Jump. When it opened in 1940, it was designed to simulate the experience of falling to earth in a parachute but it struggled to make money. So the operators came up with an idea; they offered free rides to young women who looked like “screamers”. They’d then purposefully strand the ladies in mid-air during the descent so they, as expected, would scream in terror. Totally cruel, but for a while it did help to attract the crowds. However even these marketing tactics weren’t enough and combined with the fact that the ride often had to shut due to wind, it closed forever in 1964. Since then the tower has survived abandonment, planned demolitions, fires & Hurricane Sandy. Even Trump’s Dad tried to pull this thing down but it’s still here- a series of feats worth blowing it’s own trumpet about I reckon! Brooklyn Bridge opened in May 1883 and enjoyed a fairly harmonious first few days, but at the end of the month disaster struck. Reports vary as to what happened exactly but it seems a woman tripping on the stairs triggered a stampede of pedestrians who thought the bridge was about to collapse. In the confusion numerous people died and many more were injured. So then the city had a problem. It had just spent $15.5 million on a bridge that the public were afraid of using. So how did they convince New Yorkers that Brooklyn Bridge was safe? They turned to circus showman P.T. Barnum who’d pitched an idea for the opening of the bridge that they’d rejected a year earlier, but now it seemed like the perfect PR stunt. So one evening in May 1884, P.T. Barnum marched 21 elephants, 7 camels, and 10 dromedaries (basically furry camels) across the illuminated arches of Brooklyn Bridge, with a gigantic seven-ton African elephant named Jumbo bringing up the rear. The Bridge’s sturdiness was never called into question again #brooklynbridge #newyork #nyc #nycgo #seeyourcity #paperart

Every time I go to New York it baffles me as to why there’s steam pouring up from the ground, so this time I did some detective work to get an answer 🔍 (i.e. I went on Google). About 100,000 businesses and homes in Manhattan rely on steam for heating & electricity and they’re all fed by a complex system of underground steam pipes. The reason you see clouds of steam on the streets is because water has come into contact with a pipe underground. Unless it’s a leak. When that happens a lot of steam escapes so these fancy white & orange chimneys come out to guide the steam above vehicles to prevent road accidents. Fascinating right? Shoutout to @grandhyattnyc who gave me a history lesson on the area of Midtown (and who you can see in the background just in front of the Chrysler building) #newyork #nyc #grandhyatt #livinggrandnyc #steam

Walking through the East Village I noticed this building, 41 Cooper Square. To me it kinda looked like something had smashed out of the interior and caused the steel facade to crack and buckle. Later that day I saw a news piece about the New York Yankees and that’s how this idea came together ⚾️ On a side note- how cool is the East Village? I also ventured into Nolita (North of Little Italy) and came across Elizabeth Street Garden which was the perfect spot for a bit of shade. This is Urquhart castle and the vast waters of Loch Ness. Around 750 feet deep, it’s home to more water than all the lakes and rivers in England & Wales combined. It’s also home to one of the most famous legends in the world- The Loch Ness Monster. The first organised search for the monster was in 1934 when twenty men were paid £2 a day to be ‘monster watchers’. Since then many people have searched, including Dr Rines (who helped locate the wreck of The Titanic) and even Thatcher’s government considered an official hunt involving bringing dolphins over from America over to help look for it. The largest effort was in 1987, when a team of researchers spent £1 million on a search effort involving sonar and camera tech. Three of their sonar contacts showed a creature “larger than a shark but smaller than a whale”. Whilst nothing has ever been confirmed, in 2005 one hundred athletes didn’t leave anything to chance when they took part in the Scottish Triathlon. They were each insured for £1 million against bites from the Loch Ness Monster #LochNess #Scotland #Nessie #LochNessMonster #Inverness #UrquhartCastle

After snapping this one I was walking back into town & had the whole scenario of getting lost just as my battery died. Three long weeks later I finally emerged from the dense woodland of Presidio in rags, shivering & reduced to skin and bones (I might be exaggerating). Anyway the point of this story is that after getting lost I came across a park, but this park looked like no other park. Everything looked stunning- water trickled around me down a creek, through slabs of rock and into a peaceful lake whilst perfectly placed lights conjured a glow around the setting. For a moment I thought I’d crashed someone’s elaborate wedding proposal- that’s how good this place looked. Turns out I’d actually stumbled onto part of the Industrial Light & Magic campus and was in George Lucas’ epic 17 acre public landscape (having looked it up later I found out the part I’d come across was near the Letterman Digital Arts Center). Not a hidden gem as such but somewhere I wouldn’t have intentionally come across, so the moral is- turn your phone off occasionally & go get lost. On the Royal Princess, the mega cruise ship I’m on, there’s a unique feature that it shares only with its sister ship, called the SeaWalk. It’s a glass bottomed walkaway that extends out over the sea. This view is it from below, but when you’re walking on it and looking down whilst speeding through the waves it’s a bit of a trip. They’ve wisely built a bar next to it so you can sip cocktails and laugh at the other passengers as they walk across it with varying amounts of terror #comebacknew #PrincessCruises #PassionPassport #TravelAwesome #igTravel #WanderLust #Travel #Holiday #Vacation #Cruise #CruiseLife #InstaCruise #StreetArtLovers #ForcedPerspective #Funny #TravelStoke #Paper #PaperArt #Eye #Eyelash

I had one of the most lavish and finest dining experiences on board the Royal Princess. They have a thing called “The Chef’s Table”, which is a multi-course meal (I lost track of how many courses) that’s designed, directed and prepared by the on board Michelin starred Chef, David McDonald Greves. The first part of the experience involves going into the ship’s galley for hors d’oeuvres, champagne and a look around (which is when I took this snap when one of the chefs had his back turned). Then after this the Maitre d’ seated us at a private table in the middle of the dining room and then, and this was my favourite bit, he absolutely nailed it with his timings. He clicked his fingers once and a glass curtain dropped perfectly around the table, he clicked again and music began playing and then he gave a small nod and the waiters seemed to magically appear with the food. It was like meeting Dumbledore…except he didn’t have a beard #comebacknew

I’m in Toulon and up the road from here lives Reynald Delille, one of the most interesting wine producers in the world. Many say he produces the best rosé in the world at his vineyard in Domaine de Terrebrune, but he refuses to enter competitions to cement his status. Instead he only wants his wine in the most exclusive of hotels and in the finest wine cellars around the world. However he sells his wine locally at an affordable price so that anyone in the region can try it. So anyone visiting Domaine de Terrebrune can buy one of the finest wines in the world for a great price- almost like you could have it on tap (see how I managed to link the photo to the caption there?) #comebacknew

Pisa had been occupied by the Nazis in WWII, but in 1944 the US army was advancing. The tower, or as the US soliders referred to it the “Tiltin’ Hilton”, was suspected of being used by the Nazis as a lookout tower, so Staff Sgt. Leon Weckstein was tasked with scouting the Tower to confirm their suspicions. From a nearby olive grove, he peered through his binoculars looking for signs of life; his order was that if saw movement he would call ‘fire’ down the radio and the tower would be demolished in seconds. But just as he studied the landmark, bombs exploded nearby and Weckstein was ordered to retreat. Had he seen anyone in the tower, the famous landmark may not still be standing today. In an interview with the Guardian in 2000 he was asked if he thought the Germans were in the tower: “You know something? I’ve had 50 years to think about it, and I’m pretty sure they were.” (Head to @princesscruises to see more images) #comebacknew

When once in a decade this lake is drained, the remains of an old village emerge from the icy waters. I wasn’t here when that happened but I’ve been told that somewhere down there, beneath the deep blue, there’s a 17th Century church, abandoned homes and a bridge that still stands upright. The village was purposefully flooded for the sake of a hydro-electric dam. After the second world war France needed to develop it’s energy production and after much debate the village was sacrificed for the greater good of the state. In compensation EDF (Electricite de France) rebuilt the village above the lake at Les Boisses, including an exact copy of the church. They even built a cemetery beside the church, exhumed the graves of those in the old village and re-buried them in the new cemetery. Here’s the strangest part of the story though- ever since then there have been stories about ghostly figures wandering down from the new village into the waters of the lake as if they’re searching for their original resting place. For an equally chilling experience (in a different way) you can snow bike over the other lake further up the mountains (Tignes Le Lac) which is frozen during the winter. Check out my Insta-Story for a glimpse of what that looks like @TignesOfficiel @french_mountains #Tignes #TignesAddict #FrenchMountains #AlpsMontBlanc #Eskimo #Silhouette #Mountain #Lake #Wanderlust

For the next week I’m on a road trip around the @french_mountains, hitting three ski resorts to see if I can shake up the usual style of ski holiday photos. It’s also an opportunity to see if I can do a blue run and stay upright (yeah, I’m a beginner). The week starts in Tignes, or more specifically up here at the Aiguille Percée (The Eye of The Needle). This is on a red run (a difficult run) so I cheated and took a snowmobile up & down with one of the piste staff. We set off before the slopes were open and just as the sun rose over the Alps- you probably don’t need me to tell you how special that looked. After getting this shot at the rock formation I joined the staff for coffee in their alpine hut whilst playing with their two huskies. I can’t remember the last time I had such a satisfying morning @TignesOfficiel #Tignes #TignesAddict #FrenchMountains #AlpsMontBlanc #Silhouette #Mountain #Sunrise #Wanderlust

Here’s something I learnt this week – if you go out into the streets of London with a Death Star paper cut-out, strangers stop and take a lot of interest in what you’re doing. A few even came up and excitedly chatted Star Wars to me whilst I was getting the shots for this composition, but the truth is I’m one of the six people on the planet who has never seen the original Star Wars. So a couple of weeks ago when @odeoncinemas asked me if I wanted to see Rogue One at the BFI IMAX in London, I said “sure, but I have no idea what the back story is”. Turns out when you’re watching it on a huge screen (the largest in the UK no less) and surrounded by excited fans – you can’t help but be swept up in the whole Star Wars world #RogueOneOfficial #RogueOne #Ad #Odeon #London #Cityscape #Skyline #Sunset #StarWars #DeathStar

The countdown to the New Year is on! As 2017 arrives I imagine a lot of people will be keen to forget the year we’ve just had, but good things did happen in 2016 – the number of Tigers in the world rose, as did the number of Giant Pandas, Humpback Whales & Green Sea Turtles. A peace deal was signed in Colombia after 50 years of civil war. Sri Lanka is now malaria free after a wildly ambitious plan to eradicate it in five years paid off. The Solar Impulse 2 travelled 35,000km around the world powered by nothing but the sun. Candace Payne made millions of people laugh with a Chewbacca mask. Volunteers in India planted 50 million trees in 24 hours (read that again. How amazing is that?). Portugal ran its entire nation solely on renewable energy for four days straight. A new Harry Potter book came out. An on duty policeman proposed to his boyfriend in front of thousands of people at London pride. Sea World is no longer breeding captive Killer Whales. 93% of the world’s children are learning to read and write – the highest percentage in history. Good stuff is happening all around us- look for it and be a part of it. Oh, and one other good thing that happened this year- Leo finally got that oscar! A very Happy New Year wherever you are and a ‘yuge’ thank you for following my adventures in 2016. I’m looking forward to sharing more photos, travel stories & unbelievable facts with you in 2017 #HappyNewYear #BigBen #London #2017 #ThisIsLondon

In 1904, a man looked through a giant telescope on top of Mount Wilson. After a moment of silent wonder he said to the people around him: “Man’s sense of values ought to be revised. If all mankind could look through that telescope, it would change the world.” That man, Griffith J. Griffith (I’m not sure what his parents were thinking when they named him) was so moved by what he saw that he made plans to build a public observatory in LA so that everyone could stare into outer space. It was a project that took almost thirty years to complete and one that outlived him but when the Griffith Observatory opened in 1935 it welcomed more than 13,000 visitors in its first five days alone. Today, millions of people have visited his observatory and experienced the same moment of awe that Griffith first felt all those years ago @DiscoverLA #LostinLA #Astronomy #GriffithObservatory #GriffithPark #Telescope #Space #ET #Moon #ExtraTerrestrial @griffithobservatory #Hollywood #LA #LosAngeles #USInterior #ArtofVisuals #DestinationEarth #NeverStopExploring #PaperArt #Silhouette #TravelStoke #Travel #OpticalIllusion #PassionPassport @Instagram @LosAngeles_City #LosAngeles_City #ArchitectureLovers #ForcedPerspective #TravelAwesome

When L.A mayor James Hahn dedicated this building- the Walt Disney Concert hall- he jokingly said “This place really gleams, doesn’t it? I think it’s got a UV factor of 100”. Turns out he wasn’t kidding; the people living in the adjacent building suddenly found themselves in overheating apartments and saw their air-conditioning fees skyrocket. Traffic cones were melting in the street and the glare was so bright it even distracted drivers on the 101 Freeway, so in 2005 a study was commissioned to figure out what exactly was going on. It was discovered that the combination of hyper-reflective steel and the concave surface design created a parabolic mirror effect which was creating a microclimate with temperatures soaring to 60 °C on the sidewalk. The offending steel panels were identified and then sanded down to reduce the reflection @DiscoverLA #LostinLA #WaltDisneyConcertHall #DowntownLA #LA #LosAngeles #WaltDisney #Disney #FrankGehry #Skateboarder #Skatepark #Skateboard #Halfpipe #USInterior #ArtofVisuals #DestinationEarth #NeverStopExploring #PaperArt #Silhouette #TravelStoke #Travel #OpticalIllusion #PassionPassport @Instagram @LosAngeles_City #LosAngeles_City #ArchitectureLovers #ForcedPerspective #ArchitecturePorn #Cityscape #TravelAwesome

I heard about this bridge when I saw the video of @caseyneistat skateboarding behind a lamborghini on here. At night it looks epic with the blue lights and the whacky architecture. However Casey was made to delete most of his footage by security when he was here, so I was in full on stealth mode when I got here. Sure enough after two minutes of arriving I heard a honk behind me, it was a security car. He pulled up beside me and (very politely) told me that I shouldn’t really be taking photos here. I showed him what I was doing with the surfer cutout and I could see a slight smile grow on his face. He then said, “I’m going to drive around one more time and then I’ll give you a ride to the nearest taxi rank”. So in the end I got my shot and I got a lift. I’d call that a success. When the Burj Khalifa was built, one of the many things the construction team had to get right was the concrete mixture- if it set too quickly in the heat of Dubai then it was likely to crack and weaken. To combat this the team didn’t pour the concrete during the day in the summer months- instead it was laid at night when the air was cooler. But even then the mixture was still too warm, so they added ice to the concrete- lots of ice. So in a way, and this is a stretch, you could say the Burj Khalifa is a sort of igloo…kinda @Visit.Dubai @AtTheTopBurjKhalifa #MyDubai #DubaiTomorrow #Dubai #BurjKhalifa #Paperart #Silhouette #Climber #TravelStoke #Travel #OpticalIllusion #PassionPassport #ArchitectureLovers #ArchitecturePorn #Cityscape #ArtOfVisuals #TravelAwesome #FunFact

When the Mona Lisa was stolen from the Louvre-the museum shut down for nine days, the French border was closed and all departing ships and trains were searched. The mystery wasn’t solved until two years later though when the thief turned out to be Vincenzo Peruggia, a carpenter who had been working at the museum and so knew all the exits and escape routes. Peruggia had even helped build the glass case that the Mona Lisa was displayed in, so he knew how to get the painting out. This is the courtyard of Palais Royal- about 2km from here an apartment in Paris was left unoccupied for 70 years. The owner fled to the south of France before the Second World War but never returned. When she died, a team was tasked with drawing up an inventory of her possessions. Upon entering the untouched, cobweb-filled flat in Paris’ 9th arrondissement, one man said it was like stumbling into a castle where time had stood still since 1900. Underneath the dust they found a painting by Giovanni Boldini. The vast majority of tourists who visit Iceland will also visit the Blue Lagoon, so here’s a few tips to help make it a more personal experience 1: It’s located 20 minutes from the international airport & 40 minutes from Reykjavik so it makes sense to come here either on your way to or from the airport. I’d suggest the latter; less than an hour after landing you can be drinking a cold one and floating in milky, blue waters dense with minerals. That’s how to arrive in a country! 2: Just as you approach the doors of the Blue Lagoon, there’s a footpath which turns left. If you have time, follow it. It will take you around the lava fields and, since most people go straight to the Lagoon, you’ll probably have the scenery all to yourself. 3: Explore. As well as the main pools the Lagoon has caves with music, bridges to swim under and hidden corners with hot spots. 4: Don’t be shy with the mud masks, slather that stuff on (it’s also the perfect opportunity to draw crude images on your friend’s face with mud). 5: Book online in advance to avoid the queues. You can also buy your onward transfers to Reykjavik or the airport which makes things a heck of a lot easier! @BlueLagoonIS #BlueLagoon #Reyex @InspiredByIceland #InspiredByIceland #Swimming #Swimmer #Eskimo #Fishing #Pool #Silhouette #PaperArt #Paper #Iceland #Reykjavik @instagram #Blogger #DoYouEvenTravel #Travel #LOL #Funny #Geothermal

Most police departments have a strenuous relationship with the people that they’re charged to protect, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here in Reykjavik. Crime in Iceland is so low that the Reykjavik police department seemingly get to spend most of their shifts having a good time in and around the city. We have lift off 🚀 This is Hallgrímskirkjam, it’s often referred to as one of the strangest buildings in the world. Recently it featured on @boredpanda’s list of “The world’s strangest buildings”, the Danish publication Politiken has named it one of the world’s “most unbelievable” buildings and if that wasn’t enough to confirm it’s status, in 2014 it was voted one of the strangest buildings in the world on the website Strange Buildings. I guess the bullet point here is that some people think this building looks rather strange. Something that’s also strange though is that the large clock on the tower, the most visible timepiece in town, often gives the wrong time. The reason? Large gusts of Icelandic wind frequently knock the hands out of step (For more in Iceland check out the link in my bio) @InspiredByIceland #LonelyPlanet #BestinTravel #Iceland #Reykjavik #Hallgrímskirkjam #Rocket #LiftOff #GuideToIceland #StrangeBuildings #BeautifulDestinations #NatureLovers #MoodyGrams #MoodyClouds #TheCreatorsClass #Illgrammers #Photography #ArtOfVisuals #VisualsOfLife #TravelAwesome

When Denos Vourderis proposed to his girlfriend in front of the Wonder Wheel, he promised her that if she said yes; he would buy her the Wheel. She said yes (why wouldn’t she? He was basically offering her the world’s largest wedding ring)! That was in 1948 and over the decades Vourderis worked on keeping that promise. He ran bars, hot dog stands and children’s rides, working tirelessly to save enough cash. Then one day in 1983, the Wheel’s owner decided to retire and offered the wheel to Vourderis. He immediately bought it. But the ride didn’t come with any sort of instruction manual- all that was passed on was a piece of paper, torn from a cigarette packet, with a few scribbled notes including the words “good luck”. Having spent years in awe of the wheel and its mechanics, Denos quickly sussed out how to operate it and looked after the Wheel right up until he passed in 1994. The moral of the story is don’t be crazy and offer your girlfriend a great big wheel- you’ll spend your life regretting making such a ridiculous promise. Nah, I’m joking; this may be one of my favourite stories I’ve come across in NYC and what’s even sweeter is that Vourderis’ two sons have continued to look after this landmark since their father’s death #ConeyIsland #Brooklyn #Coney #WonderWheel #Themepark #NewYork #NYC #Skyline #SeeYourCity #NYCGo @NYCGo @NYC #InstagramNYC @NewYorkCity #NYCInstantly #nycphotographer #nycblogger #Paper #Paperart #Silhouette @newyork_instagram @newyork #thecreatorsclass #illgrammers #createcommune #artofvisuals #visualsoflife #architectureporn #newyorker #USA #ArchitectureLovers #PaperArt #Bike #Motorbike

The popularity of skiing is somewhat down to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. He moved to the Alps in 1893 (the mountain air was prescribed to aid his wife’s health), and learnt to ski with the help of two local brothers. “You let yourself go,” he once wrote. “Getting as near to flying as any earthbound man can”. Doyle predicted that in the future hundreds of people would come to the Alps for “ski season”. He wasn’t wrong, the slopes here in Val D’Isere are buzzing with people from all around the world (including one British guy who keeps falling over….) @ClubMed @ClubMedValDIsere #ClubMed #ClubMedValDIsere #Ski #Skiing #Graffiti #Mountain #Mountains #Alps #France #Europe #Travel #Instatravel #Travelgram #Wanderlust #Sherlock #ArthurConanDoyle #Cloud #Spray #PassionPassport #Adventure #Silhouette #Paperart #Art #Instaart #Snow

King’s Cross station + cutouts + 180 degree twist = “the one who knocks”. It’s possible that the Hunchback of Notre Dame was, in fact, real. In the 1820’s, when restoration began on the cathedral after the French Revolution, there was a “humpbacked stone carver” according to the memoirs of Henry Sibson. Henry was a sculptor who worked at Notre Dame at the same time that Victor Hugo began writing his famous novel #quasimodo #notredame #paris #parisjetaime #parisian #topparisphoto #visitparis #parismaville #igersparis #loves_paris #igersfrance #hunchbackofnotredame #wanderlust #travel #adventure #passionpassport #instagram #cathedral #intrepidtravel #adventure #instagoodmyphoto #victorhugo #bestintravel #paperart #loves_paris #fact #silhouette #architecture #architecturelovers

Fun fact-there is a man in Paris, who invites complete strangers to his house for a dinner party each week. He’s been doing this for 30+ years. If you’re heading to Paris, you can register on his website to be invited. Hi to the newbies- thanks for checking out my insta. Here’s a new one from my trip to Paris at le weekend 👆When the Mona Lisa was stolen from the Louvre, the museum shut down for nine days, the French border was closed and all departing ships and trains were searched. The mystery wasn’t solved until two years later though, when the thief turned out to be Vincenzo Peruggia, a carpenter who had been working at the museum and knew all the exits and escape routes. Peruggia had even helped build the glass case that the Mona Lisa was displayed in, so he knew how to get the painting out. At closing time, he hid in a broom closet and then walked out an exit after dark holding the Mona Lisa under his coat. Novelists James Joyce and Ernest Hemingway were drinking buddies in Paris- often picking fights on their drunken nights out. Famously, Hemingway took a urinal from his favourite bar in Paris and had it installed into his American abode, arguing that he had “pissed away” so much money into the urinal that he owned it #montmartre #basiliquedusacrecoeur #hemingway #karate #silhouette #instaart #paris #parisjetaime #parisian #topparisphoto #visitparis #parismaville @paris_tourisme #igersparis #loves_paris #igersfrance #instagram #forcedperspective #citytrip #wanderlust #travel #adventure #passionpassport #architecture #travelandlife #intrepidtravel #adventureinstagoodmyphoto #guardiancities #guardiantravelsnaps #bestintravel

Copenhagen’s Cirkelbroen being abducted by Aliens: Shot for #lpkids (@lonelyplanet’s brand for little adventurers). In the distance behind the bridge is Tivoli, an amusement park commissioned by the King in 1843 so that the public could go amuse themselves and “think less about politics”. Walt Disney visited Tivoli and felt inspired.
